2012 Tahiti Travel Exchange

The 8th edition of Tahiti Travel Exchange (TTE) was held at the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti in Arue, Tahiti on November 29, 2012. The TTE is a culmination of efforts by our Preferred Tour Operators in North America, our local Supplier Partners, and Air Tahiti Nui. We’re pleased to announce that this year we exceeded our expectations with a 50% increase in attendance, which equated to 126 Travel Agents from US, Canada and Mexico and 24 Tour Operator representatives from 13 North America based Tour Operators.

The 1st edition of the TTE was launched in November 2004 and continues to be a well-respected trade event within our industry. The program has been designed to strengthen the relationships between our preferred Tour Operators, Travel Agents and Supplier Partners. TTE is a 1-day, intensive training event that includes destination training, Supplier product training, networking functions, and a Tour Operator organized and led FAM trip through the Islands of Tahiti.

Hiria Ottino, GIE Tahiti Tourisme’s Chief Executive Officer officially opened the event with a warm welcome speech and was followed by the destination presentation given by Jonathan Reap, TTNA Managing Director. The presentation included in depth information on all the islands of Tahiti, general travel information, niche markets, and the Tahiti Tiare Program. Enrollment in the Tahiti Tiare Program is required prior to departure and participation in TTE completes 3 of the 4 requirements in becoming a Certified Tahiti Specialist. We’re happy to announce 15 Travel Agents have become Certified Tahiti Specialist since attending the TTE 2012!

New for 2012! In addition to learning about our Supplier Partner’s products it is important (and fun!) to learn about some of the cultural aspects and influences of Tahiti. For this reason, we added Cultural Presenters to the Supplier rotations to educate the Travel Agents on Tahitian Vanilla, Monoi, Tahitian Cultured Pearls, and the art of craftsmanship and traditional Tahitian tattoo. The cultural presenters were very well received by the Travel Agents and Supplier Partners alike.

We’ve received quite a bit of positive feedback from Travel Agents and participating Partners for the 2012 TTE! We’ve included a few of the comments below from some of our attendees.

“I really have a thorough understanding of the logistics and the unique atmosphere and beauty of the islands after visiting.”
Corporate Travel Center American Express (CA)

“Even with being in the industry for 7+ years and having previous destination training it was invaluable to receive all the information at the Tahiti Exchange from suppliers directly.”
Downunder Travel (Toronto, ON)

“I came away with a lot of information that I need in order to better serve my clients”
Ships and Trips Travel (Sacramento, CA)

“I can sell Tahiti with confidence and lots of knowledge to share my clients.”
Worldview Travel (Santa Ana, CA)

“The presentation was very informative and interesting especially for a first time attendee.”
Travel Impressions (Tucker, GA)

“I loved having the cultural supplier. It was so informative and different – a great mix to the day!”
Travel Professionals International (Toronto, ON)

“They were all excellent – all presenting their product with enthusiasm.”
Voyages Cassis (Montreal, Quebec)

“Learned a tremendous amount of information that will be very helpful.”
Century Travel (Austin, TX)

We would like to extend a huge mauruuru roa to our head office and all of our Partners for their assistance and support in creating an amazing event and the opportunity to showcase our unique islands to the North American travel agents. We would like to especially thank Jeannine Bishop and the entire team at Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti for being a great host and to Nick Panza and the entire team at Air Tahiti Nui for getting everyone to and from the event.

We look forward to the 2013 Tahiti Travel Exchange!
