Thanks to Mr. Paul Marciano and his wonderful team at GUESS, the island of Bora Bora was featured as the true star in a 28-page spread of the Spring/Summer catalog.

“On location in Bora Bora, we took the fun to a new level and I was so struck by how much each of us needs to just escape and let go. Don’t you find that a special, remote place – completely outside of your day-to-day life – can inspire you to be more spontaneous, more alive, bolder and truly free,” says Marciano.

“My son Ryan and daughter Gia are half Tahitian, which is why I have a deep love for Tahiti and all the islands. I fell in love with Tahiti at first sight, as I did with their mother, Mareva,” says Marciano of his family.

We would like to thank Air Tahiti Nui, Air Tahiti, and SPM Hotels, Resorts & Spa and its staff at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa for their partnership and all of their efforts.

Rise Right

The Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa was featured in the May issue of ISLANDS Magazine. Photographer Justin Lewis was in Tahiti for two weeks shooting a surf film, and also visited the island of Moorea and captured amazing images of the rising peaks of this magical island.

“I was enthralled by the beauty of the scene developing in front of me. But to capture all of it was tricky. This image is actually 10 images shot as verticals and stitched together. I used a panorama tripod to ensure a seamless effect,” says Justin.

He notes that the quality of light in Moorea was unique, which made his job “unusually fun” and helped him capture this beautiful image of Moorea.

Bora Bora’s beauty deserves a lasting look

In An Amelotte’s article, she notes that there is a Bora Bora for everyone. She started the first half of her honeymoon on the main island of Bora Bora in a studio at the Sunset Hill Lodge – a smaller lodge type accommodation which allows you to mingle a bit more with the locals. The other half was spent at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, where they were able to enjoy a full 90-minute spa treatment.

“I was sad when we left Gérard. But I was in tears when we had to leave the Thalasso. ‘Don’t cry, baby,’ Jeff said on the boat to the airport. “We’ll come back. I promise.”

ISLANDS Magazine – July 2013
Why We Can’t Get enough of Tahiti’s Bungalows

The July Issue of ISLANDS Magazine is dedicated to overwater bungalows throughout the Islands of Tahiti. In addition to a beautiful cover, the issue also features a 30-page spread on Tahiti’s overwater bungalows.

Photo editor Lori Barbeli and senior staff photographer Jon Whittle separately spent 25 days in 19 overwater bungalows on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, Taha’a, Bora Bora and Rangiroa in March 2013.

They feature a brief history of the birth of bungalows and a profile on “the Bali Hai Boys” – Jay Carlisle, Hugh Kelley and Don “Muk” McCallum – who came up with the idea of building the first overwater bungalows in French Polynesia and later opened the Club Bali Hai Hotel in Moorea.

“Some bungalows are the size of dorm rooms (as if it matters in the South Pacific). So when I first saw a hallway, sitting room and huge bathroom in my bungalow at the St. Regis, I thought they’d mistakenly booked me into the owner’s suite. Nope, it was standard. ‘I need you here,’ I texted my wife. ‘All the pets too,’ said Whittle.

Calgary Herald – August 3, 2013

In this article writer, Mark Sissons shares his magical island hopping experience on a luxurious catamaran from Tahiti Dream Yacht charter.

“As we dock at our final destination, the ultra luxurious St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, my thoughts again drift back to those early European sailors like the crew of the Bounty who traded a harsh life in England for high adventure on oceans unknown. For them, as for me, navigating the world’s most beautiful collection of far-flung exotic islands must have felt like paradise found.”

Through the underwater excitement of the Tumakohua Pass and the rich and abundant marine life, and the island hospitality, she leaves readers with another island to be placed on the bucket list!

“The final approach of the flight from Papeete, Tahiti, to the northern reaches of the Tuamotu island group is simply too short. The view of floating turquoise discs adrift in indigo punctuated by splashes of jade and crescents of sun-bleached sand is sensory shiatsu – medicine – for those who leave Papeete’s bustle behind.”

Polynesia Perfected

In this edition of Playboy writer Jeralyn Gerba highlights the unique and magical qualities that French Polynesia has to offer.

“Round up a group of friends and head to Ninamu, an all-inclusive six-bungalow resort on the remote Tikehau atoll. Some 200 miles from Tahiti, it operates entirely off the grid. It’s luxuriously rustic, epitomizing the minimalist Polynesian attitude that comes from having maximum natural resources.”
