March 2014 Visitor Arrivals

We are pleased to announce that the Institute of Statistics of French Polynesia (ISPF) has released the statistics for March 2014. North Americans accounted for 49% of all Tahiti visitors for March 2014. Total North American arrivals for the month of March 2014 alone were 7,495, a +25% increase or 1,503 more visitors than March 2013. Land arrivals excluding VFR (visiting friends and relatives) for the same month were 3,808 passengers total, a 15% decrease or 676 less passengers as compared to March 2013. Total North American “paid room nights” for March 2014 decreased to 36,803, a -6% decrease or 2,148 “paid room nights” compared to March 2013. The total cruise arrivals were 3,446 passengers, a 167% increase or 2,153 passengers. Below is a chart highlighting the increase in number of “paid room nights” and “visitor arrivals” for the first quarter of the year from 2007 to 2014.

The United States delivered 15,198 visitors, while Canada delivered 3,717 visitors, and Mexico delivered 228 visitors, for a total of 19,143 visitors for the first three months of the year. The total “paid room nights” for the first quarter of 2014 increased 12% or an additional 9,504 “paid room nights”. Tahiti Tourisme North America would like to thank and congratulate all of our partners for these encouraging results. The increase of arrivals illustrates synergy among our Tahiti partners and the overall interest in the Islands of Tahiti from North America.
