The turtle season is still on in Tetiaroa, and the NGO Te Mana o Te Moana working with Tetiaroa Society recently released 53 rescued baby turtles in the lagoon. Guests had the chance to witness them swim away, overseen by the NGO’s team. The turtles will keep nesting on the atoll until April, before leaving and then returning in October for the next nesting season.



SAN MATEO, CA (April 19, 2016) – The recently launched Aranui 5 deluxe passenger-freighter ship is increasing its scheduled departures for 2017 with two additional voyages to accommodate traveler demand. The 254-passenger Aranui 5 sails from Tahiti to the Marquesas, Tuamotu and Society Islands in French Polynesia on a 14-day all-inclusive itinerary.

“We have increased the number of voyages for the Aranui 5 in 2017 due to incremental interest since its launch in December 2015. Guests can now choose from 19 expeditions to some of the most remote islands in the world,” said Eric Wong, Executive Vice President for Aranui.

Guests traveling on the December 14, 2017 voyage (#19) will have the opportunity to experience the Marquesan Mini Arts Festival, where they will learn about the colorful history and rich culture of the Marquesas Islands.

On this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, passengers board the ship in Papeete, Tahiti for a 14-day complete vacation experience sailing 800 miles north to some of most spectacular islands in the world, where they will be fully immersed in the Polynesian culture. The Aranui 5 visits Takapoto and Rangiroa in the Tuamotu Archipelago, Bora Bora in the Society Islands, as well as Nuku Hiva, Ua Pou, Hiva Oa, Fatu Hiva, Tahuata and Ua Huka in the Marquesas Islands.

The voyage includes shore experiences such as awe-inspiring hikes past waterfalls and sacred ritual sites, encounters with local artisans, a visit to French artist Paul Gauguin’s grave, snorkeling in the translucent waters of the atolls, on-island picnics and restaurant lunches featuring local food, a visit to a pearl farm and more.

The ship features 103 cabins specially designed with added space for passengers’ comfort and pleasure, featuring additional common places to unwind with an interior decor reflecting the Polynesian heritage and more balconies in the suites and superior deluxe staterooms.

Travelers booking a stay aboard the Aranui 5 will be able to choose from eight different cabin categories with accommodations ranging from Premium exterior staterooms (more than 90 percent with a private balcony) and Standard exterior staterooms with a picture window or porthole to Class C shared dormitory style cabins with occupancy for four to eight people. Room categories are Presidential Suite, Royal Suite, Premium Suite, Junior Suite (without balcony), Superior Deluxe, Deluxe, Stateroom and Class C – each providing diverse room configurations.

Public areas on the Aranui 5 include a reception area, casual restaurant, four bars, including the Sky Bar with sweeping panoramic views, two conference rooms, two lounges, library, video and computer room, boutique, outdoor swimming pool with a whirlpool, fitness room and massage room. The ship also features air conditioning in all passenger areas and indoor public spaces as well as two elevators onboard.

The cruise includes three meals daily with complimentary wine for onboard lunches and dinners, guided excursions as outlined in the itinerary, picnics and meals on shore. Optional excursions such as scuba diving, horseback riding and fishing are available for an additional charge. Air France and Air Tahiti sign a new special prorate agreement

Papeete, 26 January 2016

On 26 January 2016, Air France and Air Tahiti signed a new special prorate agreement offering the two airlines’ customers increased services to The Islands of Tahiti.

With this agreement, customers will be able to more easily book their flights to 19 islands in French Polynesia* on departure from Paris, Los Angeles as well as the entire global network served by Air France and its partner airlines.

Travelers can now book a single ticket from their departure airport through to arrival at their destination, including a long-haul trip with Air France and inter-island flight with Air Tahiti.

This new agreement is part of the transatlantic joint-venture between Air France-KLM and its partners Delta Air Lines and Alitalia.

On this occasion, Marnix Fruitema, SVP North America Air France-KLM stated: “With so many cultural, economic and historical connections between France and these idyllic islands, this new partnership means more passengers from around the world can experience all that these islands have to offer with a simplified travel itinerary on board Air France and Air Tahiti.”

Scuba divers will encounter these dolphins while diving in the pass, but this experience can also be seen on land! At sunset you can see the dolphins jumping out of the water. It is about 15 min walk from Hotel Kia Ora to Tiputa Pass or you can take the  complimentary shuttle exclusive for Hotel Kia Ora guests.


◆Rangiroa – Its unique geography

Rangiroa is a sought-after destination among divers, known for the incredible clarity. A 15 minute walk will take you to Tiputa Pass, a 200-meter wide waterway created in between corals, midway between Tiputa and Avatoru, where the hotel is located.

The ocean and the lagoon intersect at this waterway, creating a complicated current, attracting various sea creatures in search of rich plankton. This makes Tiputa Pass one of the world’s best diving spots where encounters with large sea creatures such as the manta ray, Napoleon Fish and hammerhead sharks are almost guaranteed.

◆Spectacle Wild Dolphin jumping!

According to the locals, there are about 30 – 40 Bottlenose dolphins in the Tiputa Pass. During scuba diving at Tiputa Pass, divers will encounter these dolphins. But this is not only for divers! In the sunset time, you will see the wild dolphins jumping out of the water in the Tiputa Pass, from the shore not in the water. They are playing with strong waves and you will see few dolphins are jumping Watch them play in the waves as the sun sets over the horizon. This is truly a spectacular view!

Holy Steak House Now Open

Le Coco’s Moorea has closed and has evolved to a steak house concept. Owners think this will have a greater appeal to tourists and locals. The restaurant has re-opened as Holy Steak House. A traditional steak house with a wine bar; and is family friendly with a kids play area with a children’s menu.
